Caramelized Onion and Goat Cheese Tarts

These caramelized onion and goat cheese tarts are an easy gourmet delight, perfect for appetizers or a light meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package puff pastry, thawed
  • 8 ounces goat cheese, crumbled
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 egg, beaten for egg wash

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions, sugar, and salt, cooking until onions are caramelized, about 20 minutes.
  3. Roll out puff pastry and cut into squares. Place on a baking sheet.
  4. Spread caramelized onions on each pastry square, top with goat cheese and thyme.
  5. Brush edges with beaten egg and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, add a splash of balsamic vinegar to the caramelized onions.
