- 4 slices turkey bacon
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped
- In a large skillet, cook turkey bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and crumble.
- In the same skillet, add olive oil and sauté onion until translucent.
- Add garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes; simmer for 15 minutes.
- Mix in crumbled bacon and basil just before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use pancetta instead of turkey bacon.
- Serve with freshly grated Parmesan cheese on top.
