- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup frosting (for decoration)
- 1 edible spider (for topping)
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add in the eggs, one at a time, and mix well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
- Line a muffin tin with paper liners and fill each liner halfway with batter.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let the cupcakes cool completely.
- Once cooled, decorate the tops with frosting in a spiderweb pattern and place an edible spider on top.
Notes
- For an extra spooky touch, use black and orange food coloring in the frosting.
- These cupcakes can be made a day in advance.
