  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the turkey bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Set aside to cool.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugars, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients, then fold in chopped pecans.
  6. Pour half the batter into a prepared cake pan, then layer with the turkey bacon, followed by the remaining batter.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool before serving.

Notes

  • For a sweeter twist, drizzle chocolate ganache on top of the cooled Piecaken.
