Twix-Style Cookies

These Twix-style cookies combine a buttery shortbread base, gooey caramel layer, and rich chocolate topping for the ultimate indulgence.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup caramel candies, unwrapped
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
  4. Press the dough into an even layer in a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until lightly golden.
  6. While baking, combine caramel candies and heavy cream in a saucepan over low heat until melted and smooth.
  7. Pour the caramel over the baked shortbread and let it cool.
  8. Melt chocolate chips and vegetable oil together until smooth, then pour over the cooled caramel layer.
  9. Allow to set before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of sea salt on top of the chocolate before it sets.
  • These cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
